Religious stained glass
My largest commissioned work to date, executed between 1995-98 is for St. Mary's Cathedral, Portland, Oregon comprising over 1,000 sq. ft. of hand-painted stained glass and a 120sq.ft. French-embossed (acid-etched, clear glass) screen on the themes of American saints, cultural diversity and the sacraments
Windows for all faiths
My first religious project was four stained glass windows for the Interfaith Place of Worship at St Luke's Hospital, Bradford, England, in 1994. This space is used by hospital visitors, staff and patients of many different faiths.
As an apprentice at Goddard & Gibbs Studio in London I worked on many projects for the Middle East. A high point was directing the fabrication of 10,000 sq ft of Islamic patterned stained glass and Arabic script designed by the late Alan Younger for the Aramco Mosque in Dharan, Saudi Arabia.
At the time of writing (June 2008) I have just completed designs for a Vermont sugar house, replicated from as Eastern European synagogue that was destroyed during WW2. (more>>)
More recent work
More recently, I designed and handpainted two 25ft high figurative windows for Norman Vincent Peale's Church in Manhattan, Marble Collegiate, fabricated by Rambusch Decorating Company. Each have two scenes from the scriptures: Jesus Stilling the Storm (left) and The Anointing at Bethany, dedicated in 2002; and Sermon on the Mount and Jesus Meets the Samarian Woman at the Well, 2004.
As of writing (April 2008) I am in the midst of a scheme of forty-six windows for a new Catholic church in the USA based on the narrative of the Holy Rosary.
